Sports Massage
Our sports massage sessions are designed to support active lifestyles – whether you’re training hard, dealing with muscle tightness, or simply looking to unwind. Blending clinical understanding with a hands-on, intuitive approach, each session works to release tension, improve mobility, and complement your Pilates or physiotherapy journey.
What is
Sports Massage?
Sports massage is a targeted, hands-on therapy designed to release muscle tension, improve blood circulation, and support recovery in active individuals. Whether you’re dealing with post-workout soreness or ongoing niggles, each session is tailored to what your body needs.
At Focus Movement, sports massage isn’t just about short-term relief. Our approach is informed by movement principles and anatomical understanding of the body, allowing us to better understand the “why” behind your tension – and support longer-term improvements in how you move and feel.
Who Is It For?
- Active individuals and regular gym-goers
- Runners, cyclists, sports professionals and enthusiasts
- Desk-bound professionals with postural issues, especially those experiencing pain in the lower back, shoulders, neck and hips
- Clients complementing their Pilates or physio sessions
- Anyone looking to improve mobility and recovery
Sports massage works best as part of a consistent routine, alongside your Pilates classes, strength training, or physiotherapy sessions.

During Your Visit
Your session begins with a brief check-in to understand how you’ve been moving, training, or feeling. From there, your therapist will tailor the treatment – adjusting pressure, techniques, and focus areas to suit your needs.
Depending on your needs and preferences –
- Pressure can be adjusted at any time
- Focus on specific areas or full-body sessions
- Session can be designed to complement your movement practice

Conditions
we can help you with
Knee Pain
Knee pain can drastically affect your mobility, so we provide a thorough assessment and range of treatments along with personal training to manage pain and prevent further injuries.
Neck Pain
A low-impact, full-body workout that uses a specialised machine called a reformer to improve strength, flexibility, posture, and balance. The reformer uses springs, pulleys, and a sliding carriage to create resistance, allowing for a wide range of controlled movements. It’s suitable for all fitness levels and is especially popular for building core strength, enhancing muscle tone, and supporting rehabilitation and injury prevention.
Wrist and Hand Pain
Identifying the area of weakness through muscle length, forearm and hand strength can prevent small wrist pain from developing into severe RSI.
Shoulder Pain
Examining the shoulder joint will allow us to identify the cause of your pain and decide on the best method of treatment. We will also be able to determine whether there are any underlying causes of your pain.
Hip Pain
Your range of motion will be the key assessment in order to determine the exact source of pain. We offer multiple treatment plans for hip pain and will choose the most appropriate for your condition.
Elbow Pain
A dynamic strength class designed for all fitness levels, this session focuses on building muscle and supporting bone health. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to level up your training, this multi-level class combines bodyweight exercises with equipment like kettlebells, dumbbells, and TRX to deliver a full-body workout.
Back Pain
To determine the issue, we assess the nervous system, back and pelvic muscles, and the range of movement in the spine. Back pain can stem from many different types of injuries, so a thorough assessment is crucial to determine the source of the pain.
Ankle Pain
We assess whether you’re experiencing pain caused by muscle or joint issues, as well as your walking pattern, balance and other lower limb muscles, before selecting the treatment option right for you.

Our Techniques
At our clinic, no two sessions are the same. We draw from a range of techniques and adapt them to your body, your training, and what you need that day.
Deep Tissue Work
Targets deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue to release built-up tension and restore movement.
Myofascial Release
Gentle, sustained pressure to ease restrictions in the fascia — helping improve mobility and overall tissue glide.
Trigger Point Therapy
Focuses on specific tight or sensitive points that may refer discomfort to other areas of the body.
Stretching & Mobility Work
Incorporates assisted stretches to help lengthen muscles and improve range of motion.
